The PlanToys® Beehive is one of the exciting new products introduced in 2010. The design is based around a modular system concept that enables it to be played with using various patterns; horizontal, vertical, basic level and advanced. The product designer who created it understands that children love to explore and learn about animals - especially insects. The real life bee was the inspiration behind his creation because these busy creatures have such a fascinating lifestyle.
Bees are very hard working (“busy as a bee”) and always seem to have endless energy. They buzz from flower to flower collecting pollen and nectar which they then take back to their home – the Beehive. The hive is an amazing structure of precision design where bees live and raise their young and where they protect the Queen Bee.
PlanToys® Beehives improves children’s fine motor skills as it helps develop coordination and concentration. It also gives parents a great opportunity to create stories about the life of the bee - insects they will come to appreciate for the rest of their life.
Beehives has been designed using our EcoDesign Concept which helps protect the environment. We have minimized the use of materials and Beehives design uses a short manufacturing process to save energy.

Bee populations are in severe decline all over the world, but beekeepers and scientists are unsure what is causing these losses.
This matters because bees pollinate a third of the food we eat, so without them there would be no apples, onions or even tea!
